We already told you when the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service opened its 2026 recruitment portal. We also told you when NAQS came out to say the portal was fully working after some people had trouble logging in. Now there’s a new update. NAQS and the Federal Character Commission have put out the date for shortlisting and the date for the CBT test.

When NAQS will shortlist candidates for the 2026 recruitment
Shortlisting of successful candidates is billed to start on 13th August 2026. That’s just a few days after the application window shuts. So don’t expect to hear anything the same week you apply. NAQS needs time to go through what could be thousands of applications from all over the country.
If your name makes the list, you’ll get a notification. It can come by email, it can come by SMS, but your dashboard on the portal is where the real confirmation shows. So watch all three, don’t rely on just one.
When the NAQS 2026 recruitment CBT test will hold
The Computer Based Test and interviews for shortlisted candidates are set for 15th August 2026. That’s the aptitude test everybody who scaled through shortlisting will sit for.
Now here’s something to keep in mind. NAQS has also said, on the application page itself, that if anything changes about this test date, they’ll reach out directly to the affected applicants. So the 15th of August is what’s on ground right now, but don’t treat it as something written in stone that can never move. Federal recruitment timelines shift more often than people expect.
How to check if you were shortlisted for NAQS recruitment
You don’t need to call anybody or beg an office worker in Abuja. Go back to recruitment.naqs.gov.ng, the same portal you used to apply, and log in with the email and password you registered with. Your dashboard should show your application status once shortlisting has been done. A short pop-up usually tells you straight if you made it or not.
Also check the inbox of the email you registered with, and don’t forget to check spam. A lot of government recruitment mails somehow land there instead of your main inbox, and people miss important updates because of that alone.
Today is the last day to apply for NAQS recruitment 2026
Quick one for anybody who hasn’t submitted their form yet. Today, 10th August 2026, is the closing date for applications, based on what the Federal Character Commission and the NAQS portal itself have both put out. That’s the date that’s been repeated the most since the portal opened on 28th July. Treat it as the real cut-off and get your application in now, instead of hoping for extra days that might not come.
The application is completely free. If anybody asks you for money before or after applying, that person is not from NAQS.
What to have ready before the NAQS CBT test
Since the exam is coming up fast, you have very little time to prepare. A few things worth doing before 15th August:
- Print or screenshot your application acknowledgment slip. Some centres ask for it at entry.
- Keep a valid means of identification on you, the same one that matches the details you submitted.
- If your cadre involves a physical or height requirement, remember that’s still part of the process even after the CBT, so don’t relax once you scale the test alone.
- Check your CBT centre and time as soon as the notification drops. Don’t assume, because centres are usually spread across different states.
