None of this means Indeed is a waste of time. If you need any job now, applying to twenty listings on Indeed in one evening beats spending that same evening slowly building out a LinkedIn profile. Which jobs fit LinkedIn and which fit Indeed for Nigerians
Both platforms have thire lane. Trying to use LinkedIn for a warehouse job or Indeed for a senior finance role is fighting against what each one was built for.
- Bank jobs, tech roles, and marketing positions in Lagos and Abuja mostly show up on LinkedIn first, sometimes before they’re posted anywhere public at all.
- Customer service, retail, logistics, and admin support roles are far more common on Indeed. You’ll find ten times as many of these listings there than on LinkedIn.
- NGO and development sector jobs (the kind funded by international organizations) show up on both, but recruiters for these roles do a lot of their screening through LinkedIn profiles first.

- On LinkedIn, take your time instead. A short message to the recruiter or hiring manager alongside your application does more there than it ever would on Indeed.
- Check both sites for the same company sha. Some employers post to Indeed for reach but rely on LinkedIn for people who message them directly, so the same job might not show up on both.
