INEC is recruiting permanent staff into three cadres: Professional (Grade 09-12), Administrative Officer II (Grade 08), and Executive Officer (Grade 07). Applications open on the INEC portal from 20th July to 27th July 2026. It’s free to apply, and only shortlisted candidates get invited for the next stage.
The Independent National Electoral Commission wants to fill entry-level and mid-level positions across its offices in Nigeria. If you’ve been checking the INEC careers page for a way in, this is it.
This are the Positions on Offer
INEC split the vacancies into three cadres, and each one comes with its own entry grade.
Professional Cadre – Grade Level 09, 10, and 12
This is for lawyers, clinical officers, IT officers, engineers, and accountants. You need a bachelor’s degree or master’s in a field relevant to the role, plus your professional certification where it applies (NBA, MDCN, COREN, NSE, ICAN, ANAN, CPN). NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is required, and so is basic computer literacy.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Open to holders of a bachelor’s degree, HND, or an equivalent qualification in social sciences, humanities, or sciences. You’ll also need your NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and decent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
Executive Officer (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07
This one only requires an NCE or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Basic computer operation and data handling skills matter here too, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision in your assigned Registration Area.
General Requirements
No matter which cadre you’re applying for, you must be a Nigerian citizen by birth or descent.
Documents You Should have Ready
- A valid Certificate of State of Origin, signed by your Local Government Chairman or Secretary (certificates endorsed by Liaison Officers won’t be accepted)
- Proof of computer literacy
- A medical fitness certificate from a government hospital
- Good conduct, with no prior conviction
- Age not above 35 as of the application date
- Willingness to serve anywhere in the country

The application is completely free. If anyone asks you to pay, that’s not INEC.
See This Before You Apply
INEC has been clear on a few things:
- Only shortlisted candidates move to the next stage, and this is based strictly on the credentials you submit
- No upgrading your qualifications after applying
- One person, one application. Multiple submissions get you disqualified automatically
- False information in your application gets you disqualified too, and could lead to prosecution
Application Window / Deadline
Applications run from Monday, 20th July 2026 to Monday, 27th July 2026. That’s just one week, so don’t sit on this.
