FCMB has opened applications for its 2026 Early Career Technology Graduate Programme. It opened on October 9 and closes on October 23, 2026, so you have about two weeks. You apply online on the FCMB recruitment portal, and the link is in this post.
Its full name is Early Career Technology Graduate Programme. You’ll also see it called the FCMB Technology Graduate Programme or the technology graduate trainee programme. It’s all one programme.

About this FCMB Technology Graduate Programme
FCMB is First City Monument Bank, one of the big banks in Nigeria. FCMB Group Plc is the company that owns it, and the group is running this programme under the theme “Build What’s Next.”
It’s meant for fresh graduates who want to work on the technology side of a bank.
Requirements to apply for the FCMB Technology Graduate Programme
- A bachelor’s degree, or something equal to it, from an accredited school.
- At least second class upper (2:1).
- Your course should be Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Electrical Engineering or Statistics. The listing adds “related disciplines,” which is vague.
- Recent graduate. The range is 0 to 2 years of work experience.
- FCMB also wants strong grades, and people who can analyse things and solve problems.
- Some real interest in technology and innovation, since the listing asks for it directly.
The listing asks for a 2:1 minimum. A 2:2 is below that, so don’t waste your time on the form if that’s your class of degree.
HND holders, take note. The listing says “a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent” and doesn’t spell out what counts as equal. Check the job page on the portal before you fill anything.
NYSC and age limit for this FCMB programme
The listing doesn’t mention NYSC or an age limit. FCMB’s 2025 sales programme did ask for NYSC completion or exemption, and for applicants aged 28 or below. So don’t be surprised if the form asks about either one. Keep your NYSC certificate or exemption letter close by.
What to do if your degree is not on the FCMB list
Mathematics, Physics and Information Systems are not named in the listing. “Related disciplines” might cover them, but only FCMB can say.
If your course is close to computing or data, apply anyway. Put the technology side of your degree, your projects and the tools you’ve used at the top of your CV. If your course has nothing to do with computing, your time is better spent on programmes that take any discipline, like the ones in our post on entry-level jobs Nigerian graduates with no experience can still apply for.
How to apply for the FCMB Technology Graduate Programme
- Open the FCMB recruitment portal and confirm the Early Career Technology Graduate Programme is the page you’re on.
- Read the whole job page first.
- If the portal asks you to sign up or log in, use an email you check every day.
- Fill the form with your correct details, written the way they appear on your certificate.
- Upload whatever it asks for and submit.
- Any confirmation you get, save it.
Have these ready before you start: your updated CV, degree certificate or statement of result, NYSC certificate or exemption letter, and a valid ID.
How FCMB may pick candidates for this programme
The listing says the process may include assessments, interviews, group exercises and background checks. It also says that sending in an application does not guarantee selection or a job.
FCMB says it will verify what you submit, and false or misleading information can get you disqualified.
What the FCMB listing did not say about this programme
The listing says nothing about salary. It doesn’t say how long the programme runs, how many people will be taken, or which office you’d be posted to. The exact tests aren’t listed either.
Don’t pay anybody to help you get in. Apply only through the portal link above.
How to prepare in the 14 days before the FCMB deadline
Don’t wait for the last day. Portals can get slow when everybody rushes in. One failed upload on October 23 and you’re out. This plan is my own suggestion, not something FCMB published.
| Dates | What to do |
|---|---|
| Oct 9 to 10 | Check your class of degree and course against the list. Gather your documents. |
| Oct 11 to 13 | Fix your CV. Degree, projects and tools go near the top. Add links to anything you’ve built. |
| Oct 14 to 16 | Fill the form and submit. |
| Oct 17 to 23 | Prepare for tests and interviews. Check your email and spam folder every day. |

How to get ready for the tests and interviews
FCMB hasn’t said what the assessments cover. So prepare for the usual things. Practise logic and number questions. Brush up the basics of your own field: SQL and Python if you’re a data person, one programming language you’re comfortable in if you’re going for software.
For the interview, be ready to explain one project from start to finish. What was the problem? What did you use? What went wrong, and what would you change? A real project you can talk about beats a long list of courses.
Also learn how a bank works from a customer’s side. Transfers, mobile apps, USSD, card fraud. You’d be working for a bank, so know what its customers deal with every day.
In a group exercise, speak early and listen to the others. Don’t shout over people.
Other tech graduate programmes you can apply for with the FCMB one
FirstBank’s Technology Academy Graduate Trainee Program closes on October 18, 2026. That’s five days before FCMB’s deadline, so do that one first.
FirstBank asks for a 2:1 minimum too. Accepted courses are Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related ones. NYSC completion or an exemption certificate is required as well. The areas of exposure are software engineering, application support and development, cybersecurity, infrastructure services, and data science and analytics.
Notice that Mathematics, Physics and Information Systems are named there and not in FCMB’s list. If one of those is your course, FirstBank is the one that names it.

Mistakes that can cost you this FCMB application
- Applying with a 2:2 when the listing says 2:1.
- Waiting for October 23 to start.
- Your CV says nothing about technology, even though your course is a tech one.
- A wrong email address means you never see the reply.
- Spam folder. Check it.
- Details on the form that don’t match your certificate. FCMB says it will verify.
