The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will close registration for the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Today is Saturday, October 10, so you have about four days. The application is free and it is done only on the official portal at nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.

If you haven’t applied yet, this post shows the 5 mistakes that can cost you your slot, the forms you must get ready, and a plan for the days left.

Who is eligible to apply for the NAF BMTC 47/2026 recruitment

  • Nigerian by birth.
  • Height of at least 1.66m for men and 1.63m for women.
  • Medically, physically and psychologically fit, with no criminal conviction by a court.
  • A valid National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Non-tradesmen/women (school leavers): age 18 to 22, and five credits including English and Maths, earned in not more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.
  • Tradesmen/women: ND or NCE holders need at least a lower credit, plus the five credits with English and Maths in not more than two sittings. The top age limit has been reported as 25 and also as 27, so confirm it on the portal before you start.

5 mistakes to avoid before the NAF recruitment portal closes

Mistake 1: Waiting for October 14 before you apply

A lot can go wrong on the last day. Network fails, light goes, a photo won’t upload, and then the portal closes on you. Your forms also need signatures from other people, and that takes time you won’t have on day one of a rush.

So apply early. Today or tomorrow is better than Wednesday.

Mistake 2: Not checking if you qualify before you start

Check your age, your credits and your height first. Don’t fill the form and then find out you are too old for the category.

Count your sittings too. If your five credits came from three exam sittings, you don’t meet the “not more than two sittings” rule. Also pick the right category. School leavers with SSCE results go for non-tradesmen/women, while ND, NCE and trade certificate holders go for tradesmen/women.

Mistake 3: Submitting more than one application

NAF disqualifies anyone who submits more than one application.

Write down your email and password the minute you create your account. If you lose access, don’t open a second account to start fresh.

Mistake 4: Typing details that don’t match your certificates

Your name, date of birth and exam year must be the same on the form as on your certificates and NIN slip. A small spelling difference can become a big problem at documentation.

Use an email and phone number you check every day. The shortlist and the date for the aptitude test are posted on the portal, so you will be going back there often.

You will also upload scanned credentials, a recent passport photograph and your NIN slip. Scan them clearly before you open the form, not while the form is open.

Mistake 5: Forgetting the forms to print and sign after you apply

Submitting online is not the end. After you apply, print these:

  • The Local Government Indigeneship Form
  • The Attestation Form
  • The Parent/Guardian Consent Form
  • Your Acknowledgement Form

The Attestation Form is the one that delays people. It needs your passport photograph, a photocopy of the signee’s ID (driver’s licence, international passport or national ID), and the signee must also sign the back of your passport photo. Read the advert on the portal to see who is allowed to sign. Past NAF wording asked for a military officer from your state, not below the rank of Wing Commander, or the same rank in the Army or Navy. Finding such a person at short notice is hard, so start looking today.

Beware of NAF recruitment scams and fake websites

NAF recruitment is free at every stage. Nobody can guarantee you a slot, and anyone asking for money for forms, shortlisting, test venues or postings is a fraudster. Apply only on nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. If another site shows different dates or a different exercise number, ignore it.

4-day plan to apply for NAF recruitment before October 14

DayWhat to do
Saturday, October 10Check your age, credits, height and NIN. Gather your certificates, passport photo and NIN slip, and scan them. Find who will sign your attestation form.
Sunday, October 11Create your account, fill the form carefully and submit. Print everything.
Monday, October 12Get your forms filled and signed.
Tuesday, October 13Fix any mistake. Keep a printed copy and a phone copy of every document.
Wednesday, October 14Last day. Keep it as a spare day, not a starting day.

What happens after you apply for NAF BMTC 47/2026

  1. Online application on the portal.
  2. Shortlist published on the same portal.
  3. Zonal General Aptitude Test for shortlisted candidates. The date will be announced on the recruitment page.
  4. Selection interview, medical and physical assessment.
  5. Final list, then reporting to the training depot.

Last cycle (BMTC 46/2025), selected candidates reported to the Nigerian Air Force Military Training Centre in Kaduna. They were told to bring originals and photocopies of their credentials and a valid WAEC or NECO scratch card, which NAF uses to verify results online. Training runs for six months before posting. Get your own originals and scratch card ready now, so you are not rushing later.
