The Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation, known as ASMAF, has opened its scholarship application for the 2026/2027 academic session. The deadline to submit is September 15, 2026.
ASMAF is a Nigerian foundation that raises money to help bright but poor female students go through university. It’s named after Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi. Every year, the foundation picks female students who have the grades but not the money. It pays for their course from year one till they graduate, as long as they keep up their end of the deal.
Who is eligible to apply for the ASMAF Scholarship Award 2026
Not everyone can apply. ASMAF has a specific type of student in mind, and they check for it.
- You must be female and a Nigerian citizen.

The scholarship covers your tuition, board, and upkeep. That’s the core of it. How much money that adds up to isn’t fixed. ASMAF decides the amount every year, and if you’re picked, they’ll tell you exactly what your award covers.
It can run for up to six years, depending on your course and the year you got the award. So a six-year course like medicine could get funded from start to finish, as long as you keep meeting the conditions.
Outside the money, ASMAF also runs life skills and leadership training for its scholars, with mentoring built in. You also get access to resources meant to help you keep learning and doing well academically.

Get these ready before you start filling the form, because you can’t submit halfway and finish later.
- Your university admission letter (the one from JAMB).
- Evidence that you have the required credit passes, from WASC, NECO, GCE, or whatever exam your university accepts.
- Proof you passed any post-JAMB screening, interview, or other requirement your school set for admission.
- Anything else that shows you got admitted and that your academic record is solid.
A wrong or missing document, or false information anywhere on the form, will get your application thrown out. ASMAF is strict about this, so don’t leave any field blank or guess your way through it.

A few things to keep in mind while you fill it:
- You’ll need a recommender who knows your academic work well enough to speak on it. Your parents, siblings, or any other relative cannot serve as your recommender, so don’t even try.
- Only completed applications submitted before the deadline get looked at.
- If you’re shortlisted, ASMAF will reach out to you by email. If you don’t hear from them, it means you weren’t selected this round.
- ASMAF’s decisions are final. There’s no appeal process, so there’s no point writing in to argue a rejection.
Once September 15 passes, that’s it. No late submissions.
What happens after you get the ASMAF Scholarship Award
Getting picked isn’t the end of the story. ASMAF renews the scholarship every year, but only if you keep your side of things up.
Your award can get cut off for a few reasons. Grades that fall below what’s expected. A school that withdraws you from the programme. False information anywhere in your form, whether it was on purpose or not. Skipping your one-page annual progress report is enough on its own too. Or ASMAF simply decides you no longer meet the conditions for any other reason.
If ASMAF cuts your scholarship off by mistake, they can bring it back. But if it’s cut off because you broke a rule, that’s final too.
There are a few conditions attached once you’re a scholar too. You can’t take a job that will interfere with your studies, not without ASMAF’s approval first. Holding another scholarship or bursary at the same time also needs their written permission. Switching your course of study is trickier. Only courses that still fall under what ASMAF funds qualify, and even then, you need it in writing. The scholarship can’t be transferred to another student or moved to a different school either.
