The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Gwani Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, has announced the official commencement of the 2025/2026 school holiday for public and private schools across the state.
According to the Kano State Ministry of Education:
- Day schools will close on Friday, 31 July 2026.
- Boarding schools will close on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
The Commissioner also announced that the 2026/2027 academic session will commence on:
- Sunday, 6 September 2026 – Boarding schools.
- Monday, 7 September 2026 – Day schools.
He congratulated students, teachers, school administrators, and parents on the successful completion of the academic session. He also encouraged parents and guardians to ensure that children make productive use of the holiday through educational, moral, and recreational activities, while urging school proprietors to use the vacation period for maintenance and preparations ahead of the new session.
