About this OYSIEC ad hoc staff recruitment
Ad hoc staff are the temporary people hired to run an election on the ground. OYSIEC is the body that handles local government elections in Oyo State, so this has nothing to do with INEC.
The election covers all 33 local government areas in the state. What decides your application is the certificate you hold for the position you want.
Positions and qualifications needed for the OYSIEC ad hoc staff recruitment
| Position | Minimum qualification |
|---|---|
| Presiding Officer (PO) | OND or NCE |
| Assistant Presiding Officer (APO) | OND or NCE |
| Supervisor (SU) | BA, B.Sc. or HND |
| Ward Collation Officer (WCO) | BA, B.Sc. or HND |
| Local Government Returning Officer (RO) | Chief Lecturer or its equivalent in a tertiary institution |
| Local Government Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) | Chief Lecturer or its equivalent in a tertiary institution |
The portal calls the last two RO and ARO. Some news reports write LGRO and LGARO. It’s the same positions.
PO and APO are polling unit jobs. WCO is ward level. RO and ARO are at the local government level, so those two are basically for lecturers and not for fresh graduates.
Now, the certificates. OND comes from a polytechnic. NCE comes from a college of education. HND is the higher one from a polytechnic, and BA or B.Sc. comes from a university. If you’re not sure how these schools differ, read the difference between university, polytechnic and college of education in Nigeria.
The notice says “minimum”, so a degree holder meets the PO and APO requirement too. You can only submit one application though. Pick the one position that fits your certificate and stick with it.
What you need before you start the OYSIEC ad hoc registration
- Phone number that works. The phone itself must be Android.
- Your email address, one you really use. Not that old one you forgot the password to.
- Functional, operational commercial bank account.
- Certificate for the position you want, ready to upload when the portal asks.
OYSIEC says each of these is required for engagement. If one is missing, sort it out first, then register.
How to apply for the OYSIEC ad hoc staff recruitment
- Go to the official portal at oysiec.org/adhoc.
- Click Start Application Now.
- Choose the position you want.
- Pick your preferred local government, then a ward inside it. This part is only a preference. The portal says final posting is decided by OYSIEC, so you may not be posted where you chose.
- Fill in your details and upload the certificate for that position.
- Submit before October 20. The help desk page talks about a registration slip, so save or screenshot whatever the portal shows you at the end.
Competition for OYSIEC ad hoc staff positions
For the April 2024 local government election, the OYSIEC chairman at that time said about 40,000 people applied and about 15,000 would be engaged. That is more than two applicants for every spot. The 2026 numbers have not been announced.
So don’t leave it for October 20. Register this week.
OYSIEC help desk for registration problems
If registration, uploads, login or your registration slip gives you trouble, call the IT Management Help Desk on 08034233458 or 08067369511. The lines are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There’s no help desk on Saturday and Sunday, so any problem you find this week should be sorted before Friday.
Avoid fake OYSIEC recruitment links and payments
The application is free of charge. Nobody needs to collect money from you to register. OYSIEC also says you should rely only on information from its official channels and the recruitment portal.
In 2026, INEC had to warn people about a fake ad hoc recruitment website going round. That one was INEC’s, not OYSIEC’s. Still, be careful. Type oysiec.org/adhoc yourself instead of clicking a link from a stranger.
