The official INEC recruitment portal is https://recruitment.inecnigeria.org/. INEC uses it to receive applications for permanent staff jobs, where you create an account, fill the application form and upload your documents. People who want temporary election work use a different portal, INECPRES, at https://pres.inecnigeria.org/.
Latest status (updated October 15, 2026): INEC’s last permanent staff round opened on Monday, July 20, 2026 and ended on Monday, July 27, 2026, and no new permanent round has been announced since. INEC’s notice for ad hoc election staff puts the INECPRES window at September 18 to midnight on November 18, 2026. INEC takes applications only when it announces a round.
This guide covers both portals, so you know which one to use and what to prepare before you start.
About the INEC Recruitment Portal
The INEC portal for recruitment is the website where INEC receives online applications for its permanent jobs. In the July 2026 round, the jobs were entry-level and professional posts meant to strengthen INEC’s work in electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics. INEC does not take applications all year. A round starts when INEC publishes a notice, and not before.
INEC runs two job portals, and people often mix them up, so check which one fits you:
| Portal | Address | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| INEC recruitment portal | recruitment.inecnigeria.org | Permanent staff jobs |
| INECPRES | pres.inecnigeria.org | Ad hoc election staff (temporary work on election duty) |
INEC Recruitment Portal Requirements (From the Latest Round, a New Round Can Change Them)
These come from INEC’s July 2026 notice. Read the notice again whenever a new round starts, because any of this can change.
| Cadre | Grade level | What INEC asked for |
|---|---|---|
| Professional Cadre (accountants, clinical officers, lawyers, ICT officers, engineers) | 09, 10 and 12 | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, a master’s degree for some roles, relevant professional certification where it applies (for example COREN or ICAN), NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and computer skills |
| Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) | 08 | Bachelor’s degree or HND in Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, plus data management, record keeping and Microsoft Office skills |
| Executive Officer | 07 | NCE or an equivalent qualification, plus basic computer skills |
Every applicant also had to meet these general conditions:
- Age: not above 35 when you apply, and at least 18.
- A certificate of state of origin signed by your local government chairman or secretary.
- Physical and mental fitness, certified by a government medical officer.
- Nigerian citizenship by birth or descent.
- No criminal conviction, and willingness to serve in any part of the country.
Documents to Keep Ready for the INEC Portal Recruitment
Scan and save these before you start: passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O’Level result, your degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate, local government identification certificate, and NYSC certificate where it applies.
You also need your NIN and an email address you can open, since the account is created with both. Keep the certificate of state of origin and the medical fitness certificate from the list above close by as well.
Steps to Apply on the INEC Recruitment Portal
- Type recruitment.inecnigeria.org into your browser yourself.
- Create an applicant account with your personal details, email address and NIN.
- Verify your email address.
- Log in, open the Vacancies tab and choose your cadre and vacancy. Take your time here, because INEC said you cannot change the vacancy after you submit.
- Complete the application form and upload your documents.
- Review the whole form, then submit it online.
During national recruitments, you may experience slow loading on the inec portal, keep trying or sometimes around midnight.
INEC Portal for Recruitment of Ad Hoc Election Staff (INECPRES)
INEC calls its portal for temporary election workers the INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff, or INECPRES. Ad hoc staff are trained for specific election duties, and their engagement ends when the exercise ends. For the 2027 general elections, INEC said it plans to recruit about 1.4 million ad hoc personnel for more than 176,000 polling units. The window dates are in the timeline table below.
INEC’s notice lists five kinds of position: Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) staff.
Who can apply depends on the position. The notice names serving and former NYSC members, students of federal and state tertiary institutions, federal and state government employees, permanent staff of MDAs, qualified INEC personnel, eligible ICT staff, and staff of institutions that host Registration Area Centres. Read the eligibility rules for your position and pick only one you qualify for.
You fill the registration form with accurate personal, educational and employment details, and you keep your registration details after you submit. Go straight to pres.inecnigeria.org on a laptop or desktop, or start from inecnigeria.org, which also covers the mobile app. If the platform gives you trouble, INEC runs a 24-hour helpdesk on 0700-CALL-INEC.
What Happens After You Apply on the INEC Recruitment Portal
INEC said only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage, and that applications are assessed strictly on the credentials you submit. This guide carries no shortlist, test or screening date, because we have not found one confirmed by INEC. When you see one, check that it comes from INEC itself.
The notice also set rules that can cost you the application:
| If you do this | INEC said |
|---|---|
| Send more than one application | Automatic disqualification |
| Give false information or upload forged documents | Disqualification and possible prosecution |
| Try to upgrade your qualification after submitting | Not allowed |
| Want to change your selected vacancy after submitting | Not possible |
How the Last INEC Portal Recruitment Round Started
INEC published the permanent staff notice on its recruitment portal. These are the dates INEC set for both portals:
| Date | Portal | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, July 20, 2026 | INEC recruitment portal | Permanent staff round starts for Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12 |
| Monday, July 27, 2026 | INEC recruitment portal | Last day to apply in that round |

| Wednesday, November 18, 2026, midnight | INECPRES | End of the ad hoc application window, per INEC’s notice |
How to Know When INEC Announces the Next Round on the INEC Recruitment Portal
Nobody can give you the date of the next round until INEC posts a notice. INEC has said it announces genuine recruitment only through its verified website and official channels, so those are the places to watch:
- The INEC website, inecnigeria.org
- INEC’s verified Facebook, X and Instagram pages, all under the name inecnigeria
- The Job Recruitment category on Apply Times, where new INEC posts will show up
How to Avoid Fake INEC Recruitment Portals and Notices
Fake INEC portals have come up more than once, and INEC has disowned them in public:
- In September 2025, INEC said inecrecruitment.com was fake, that it had no such website, and that it was not running a general recruitment at the time.
- In January 2026, INEC said a site posing as an “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026” (okripeti.org) was fake and had nothing to do with the Commission.
- INEC has told the public not to click such links, submit personal information, upload documents or pay anything through them.
| Sign | What to do |
|---|---|
| The web address does not end in inecnigeria.org | Do not use it. The two real portals are recruitment.inecnigeria.org and pres.inecnigeria.org |
| Someone asks you to pay for a form, a slot or a shortlist | Do not pay. INEC said the permanent staff process is completely free |
| A notice shows up only on social media or as a shortened link | Confirm it on inecnigeria.org before you give any detail |
