About this EFCC 2026 recruitment exercise
EFCC is the agency in Nigeria that goes after people who steal public money, run scams and launder money. This time it wants to hire new staff in four groups. Some posts are for SSCE holders. Others are for ND, HND and degree holders. One group is for doctors, lawyers, nurses, engineers and similar professionals.
Everything is done online, so you don’t need to buy a form or walk into an office.
Be careful of fake EFCC recruitment links before you apply
Fake EFCC recruitment news has been all over social media this year. On January 25, 2026, EFCC itself marked a notice saying its 2026 recruitment was open as fake. In July, it also said a viral claim that it was recruiting secretly was false.
So where you get the news matters. This one is on the Federal Character Commission recruitment page and its X account. It points to recruitment.efcc.gov.ng. Use that address only. A link from a WhatsApp group or a Facebook comment is not the portal, even if it looks close.
EFCC has also said it has not authorised any agent to act for it.
EFCC cadres open for 2026 recruitment, with the qualification and age for each
| Cadre | Grade level | Qualification | Age |
|---|---|---|---|
| Detective Superintendent | GL 08 (Assistant Superintendent of EFCC II) | Bachelor’s degree or HND, plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate | 18 to 30 |
| Detective Inspector | GL 06 (Inspector of EFCC II) | ND or National Certificate in Education (NCE) | 18 to 27 |
| Detective Assistant | GL 04 | Five credits in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB, including English and Maths, in not more than two sittings | 18 to 25 |
| Professionals and Skilled Workers | Not stated | Qualification in the listed fields below | Up to 40 |
The professionals group covers Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Engineering. It also takes experienced people in Human Resources Management, Financial Analysis, Media and Publicity, ICT and Research. Membership of a relevant professional body counts as an advantage. A valid national driver’s licence is also listed as an advantage for this group.
Grade Level, or GL, is the level you start on in the federal government pay structure. A higher number means a higher rank and better pay. GL 04 is the lowest of the three detective levels here. GL 08 is the highest. If you want to see how grade levels compare across jobs, our post on the senior lecturer grade level equivalent in the civil service explains it.
Conditions every applicant must meet for the EFCC recruitment
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Basic computer skills, since the whole thing is online.
- Declare every academic and professional qualification you have on the form. Leave none out.
- A medical fitness certificate from a government-approved hospital is compulsory.
- No tattoo on any part of your body.
- A criminal record rules you out.
Cadet applicants must also be single. Males must be at least 1.67 metres tall and females at least 1.64 metres. Check on the portal which cadres this covers before you apply.
Which EFCC cadre you should apply for
Go by your highest qualification and your age. SSCE only, you are looking at Detective Assistant. ND or NCE puts you at Detective Inspector. HND or a degree with your NYSC paper, and it is Detective Superintendent.
Check your age first, because the limits are tight. A 29-year-old with a degree is still fine for Detective Superintendent. A 28-year-old with an ND is already over the Detective Inspector limit.
Doctors, lawyers, nurses, engineers and the rest of the listed fields should look at the professionals group. It is the only one that goes up to 40.
If you hold an HND, this update on federal polytechnics getting degree awarding powers may matter to you.
